Accessibility statement
Floodi is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C.
Conformance status
Floodi is designed to be partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively improving coverage with every release.
Supported accessibility features
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard alone.
- Screen reader compatibility — semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and meaningful link text throughout.
- Sufficient color contrast — text and interactive elements meet the 4.5:1 minimum contrast ratio.
- Alt text on images — descriptive alt attributes on photos, logos, and icons.
- Resizable text — content remains usable when text is enlarged up to 200%.
- Responsive layout — works on mobile, tablet, and desktop without loss of content or functionality.
- Light & dark themes — color tokens designed for readability in both modes.
Known limitations
The interactive Leaflet map relies on visual cues; we provide a text-based list of nearby reports as an alternative below the map. Some third-party embeds (e.g., USGS gauge tooltips) may not yet meet full conformance.
Section 508 conformance (federal procurement)
Floodi targets conformance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. § 794d) and the Revised 508 Standards, which incorporate WCAG 2.1 Level AA by reference. This section functions as an abbreviated VPAT® summary for federal reviewers, grant officers, and procurement teams.
| 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA criteria | Conformance level |
|---|---|
| Perceivable (1.x) | Supports — text alternatives, contrast ≥ 4.5:1, resizable text, responsive reflow. |
| Operable (2.x) | Supports — full keyboard operability, no keyboard traps, visible focus, descriptive link text. |
| Understandable (3.x) | Supports — consistent navigation, labeled inputs, plain-language methodology. |
| Robust (4.x) | Supports — semantic HTML5, ARIA roles, name/role/value exposed to assistive tech. |
| Interactive map (1.1.1, 2.1.1) | Partially supports — Leaflet map is visual; a keyboard-reachable text list of nearby reports is provided as the conforming alternative. |
A full VPAT 2.5 (508-edition) document is available to federal agencies and grant program officers on request at [email protected]. Floodi also tracks federal registration and small-business eligibility on the federal readiness page.
