Floodi is a supplemental situational awareness tool. It does not replace 911, official emergency alerts, evacuation orders, NWS warnings, or law enforcement instructions. Community reports may be delayed, inaccurate, or missing. Never drive through flooded roads. Never enter dangerous water to submit a report.
What makes Floodi data trustworthy
AI photo verification
Every submitted photo is analyzed by Gemini Vision before it appears publicly — confirming it shows actual flood conditions and classifying severity (minor/moderate/severe).
Vote-based confirmation
Other signed-in users can confirm or dispute any community report. Three dispute votes downgrade a report automatically; 3+ confirmations elevate confidence.
NWS polygon cross-check
If a report coordinates fall inside an active NWS flood warning area, it receives the NWS-confirmed badge — a second federal data signal on that street-level observation.
Rate limiting + flag system
Accounts are capped at 5 reports/hour (database-enforced). Any user can flag a report; 3 unique flags hide it pending admin review.
EXIF stripping
GPS metadata and EXIF data are stripped from all uploaded photos on ingest — protecting reporter privacy while preserving the image itself.
Public-safe feed only
The public API and map expose only public-safe fields: location, severity, age, verification context. Reporter contact details and user IDs are never in the public feed.
